Hi :)

So, Ubuntu now the world's the most famous and widely used gnu&linux used an
advertising campaign that is still being talked about 7 years later.

As Dame Helen Mirren said "Flesh sells. People don't want pictures of churches.
They want to see naked bodies"

Creating controversy is a proven way of getting people to talk about something.

Of course it is risky and might require good lawyers and/or a large amount of
cash to pay-off fines or court-fees. Obviously we are not there yet.

People don't need to be naked in order to be attractive and not everyone would
be attractive naked. The 2 things are not necessarily related.

The cute girls holding up the LibreOffice logo may attract some people's
wandering eye but they are not using the product and they are not engaged with
the viewer either also there is only white skin and no guys. I think it is a
good one for the series despite those limitations. The other adverts in the
series would hopefully show diversity and be equally glamorous and clean.

Also i think we need to pay attention to the layout of wording. This
introduction fits the stereotype of Mac users. Elegant, clean, designer,
healthy & happy. I re-arranged the wording to put "Mac" first on the line so
that people's eye catches on that first, before seeing Windows. The word on
its
own on the 4th line was "Base", hmm, can we think of any negative connotations
about the word "Base". So i jumbled the order to bury Base in the middle. The
list starts with Writer, end of the line is Calc and the new line has
"Impress". I really wanted to avoid having a lone word on a 4th line but it
seemed unavoidable without making the 3 lines far tooo long.

This was definitely the most attractive advert so far. I doubt people will be
talking about it in 7years time but it is likely to get people looking at it.
Regards from
Tom :)

IMHO we should not fall into the trap that Ubuntu Linux did early on
in their early days.

We are producing a product which has little to no sex appeal but is an
amazing professional and productivity tool, lets focus on that.
iPhone marketing is a great example of having a 'sexy' product without
focussing on sexy women/men in the advertisement.
