I would second Charles' on that.
This would be a great opportunity - If I understand what's needed right
now is someone to do a little research and put the options into a
coherent shape to be looked at.
Truth is there is hardly enough people to do everything needing done and
it would certainly be great help, it also isn't anything with a hard
deadline so you can work on it as you have time.
Please think about it.

I add my vote for you as well. I think you would do an excellent job at
this. You have great research skills, and, as far as people skills, we
all fall into that category. You can't please everyone all the time. We
just try to do our best.
