Hi :) Previously Charles has said that a first release of a new branch, such as the 3.6.0, can expect to have more bugs and problems than the last release of the previous branch, such as the 3.5.5. As the branch matures those unexpected bugs get fixed, often quite quickly, particularly in LO (which has faster development than most project imo) but that involves downloading and installing updates or upgrades, such as to the 3.6.4 when that arrives.
The advantages of the new branch are the new features and improved support for non-native formats. Also people that are 1st to try the new branch (or other early adopters) are likely to find that any problems they do manage to find get fixed faster because devs are likely to be more interested and more focused early in the branch's cycle.
