Hi,

I'd like to suggest creating a page with below content:

"If you send me office files, make sure they are crossplatform format.
This means: .PDF, .ODT, .ODS, .ODP. All of them can be made by free
program LibreOffice."

The page could be then linked in email signatures. I have something
similar in this mail, but it's worse then described concept. Because
it's only in polish and english. I'm not gonna write it in other
languages because it'd be nonsense.
Such page could check user data and shows message in user language with
LibreOffice download link in proper OS and lang. version.

What do You think?

The problem is that older versions of MSO support for ODF and PDF formats ranges from none to fair. These users can not often read ODF or PDF formats.

IMHO demanding others use any specific software is not the best way to gain acceptance even if the demand is not explicit. I accept that many will send files in MSO formats because that is what they have installed.

One issue to always remember is that many users are not very knowledgeable about computers and while something that is fairly easy for most of the people on this list may scare them; such as installing software, etc.
