Yes, I am aware of that and conscious it ought to be easy to do. But it's not 
been done yet. But it would be a good thing to have, as this feature—saving as 
Markdown—is put out there as a selling point for these and other apps, and not 
just for OS X but also for Windows, Web apps and even, no doubt, Linux apps.

Meanwhile, I'm rather keen to get Byword and Writer Pro to support ODT. The 
default format for saving for Writer Pro is, I think, just .txt and markdown 
(mdwn?).
