I had avoided cross-posting -- and indeed all posting -- to LPSM-discuss for over a year, and in that whole time had bitten my tongue about letting the wider LPSM know how Harland's undefended and indefensible behavior had caused the resignation of one of their officers. This forum averages less than one post a week, and I think it will survive that this belated explanation finally arrived as a cross-post. (My subsequently cc'ing marketliberal shouldn't count as a cross-post, since that forum's essential purpose is one-stop shopping for people -- even Harland -- to monitor all my libertarian-related posts.) > FWIW, my reactions to your post were pretty much the same as Kennita's. I didn't read more than a few lines. < I'll paraphrase what I told Kennita: When you publicly suggest that there is no difference in the strengths of the opposing arguments over an alleged injustice, or publicly suggest that the injustice is too trivial to bother reading about, then it doesn't speak well for your sense of fair play. In case you literally did not read as far as my third paragraph that recalled the "Nazi/spine" comment by Harland that triggered my resignation, then I'll repeat: The man went out of his way to repeatedly cc Paul Ireland and encourage Ireland's indisputably ridiculous belief that I had aggressed against Ireland (by quoting him!), at a time when Ireland was making multiple public threats to physically attack me. Then Harland expressed sneering disregard for my request that he not go out of his way to encourage Ireland's threats in view of the fact that my wife was in a high-risk pregnancy. I don't mind Harland criticizing my arguments, but if he's going to publicly accuse me of "personal attacks", then I'm going to remind our audience of his shameful behavior in that episode. And since he made his accusation at a time he's been following me around into other forums, I considered that sufficient justification for me to finally explain my resignation to the wider LPSM, and to give enough context in doing so to explain why I was now breaking my long silence. That context-giving took the form of a one-time cross-post. Oh the horror. :-) Of course, the preceding explanation of my cross-post is somewhat moot if you didn't read more than a few lines of this post... :-)
