Dear Marine Mammal List subscribers.
It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden death of our colleague and one of your list members, Dr Peter William Arnold, in Townsville on Tuesday. Peter was Senior Curator, Tropical Natural History, at the Museum of Tropical Queensland, a superb marine scientist with a wide range of expertise, a fountain of knowledge which he was always willing to share with all, and an active contributor to the taxonomy, ecology and behaviour of marine mammals.
Some of you may be aware that Peter and colleagues recently published two new articles in the Memoirs of the Queensland Museum on dwarf minke whales and torqual whales. The illustrations in the printed version were very disappointing, but are much better in the PDFs. We are about to publish this journal online (in addition to maintaining a hard copy version of the journal), and although not actually up online yet, they will soon appear for downloading at the following URL (at no cost). We will eventually place online the backlog of Memoirs publications to about 1999 (which is about the time we started making PDFs prior to printing), and resources permitting, scanning earlier articles and placing them online as well.

Hopefully the latest issue will be up within the next couple of weeks
I am sure that Peter would be pleased that we are now attempting to disseminate our research as widely as possible and at no cost to the research community.
Finally, I would be most grateful if the list-server administrator would remove Peter's email address from the MARMAM list.
Vale Peter Arnold
Regards, John Hooper
