Announcing the Northeast Region Marine Mammal and Sea Turtle Stranding
Network Conference ("NERS 2009"), March 27-29, at the Salem Waterfront
Hotel & Suites in Salem, MA.The annual NERS Conference brings together over 100 scientists, marine animal specialists, managers, educators, stranding network volunteers, and interested laypeople from Virginia to Maine to network and share the latest knowledge about marine animal strandings, disease, rescue, and rehabilitation. On Friday, March 27th and Saturday, March 28th, scientific papers on marine mammal and sea turtle disease, case studies, stranding trends, large whales, and other topics of interest will be presented. On Sunday, March 29th there will be a special symposium on Marine Animal Disease in the 21st century. This year's conference is co-hosted by the New England Aquarium, the Whale Center of New England, and the National Marine Life Center.
