The Norwegian Polar Institute (NPI) is seeking:


1)    a well qualified ecologist (with a PhD) for a permanent research position 
at the institute's head office in Tromsø. The position is made available 
through the newly established Centre for Ice, Climate & Ecosystems (ICE), and 
the candidate will be working with marine ice-dependent ecosystems, or the 
marginal ice zone. This research will be an important contribution to 
implementation of ecosystem-based management in this area.

Arctic experience is desirable but not a prerequisite, and a broad background 
in quantitative research connected to biodiversity and ecosystems is 
preferable. The application deadline is 27 March 2009.


2)    An ectoxicologist with competence on the effects of contaminants (with 
special emphasis on oil and oil components) on marine ecosystems in ice-filled 
waters. . The position is made available through the newly established Centre 
for Ice, Climate & Ecosystems (ICE), and the candidate will be working with 
marine ice-dependent ecosystems, or the marginal ice zone. This research will 
be an important contribution to implementation of ecosystem-based management in 
this area.
