Three orcas apparently were landed by Korean fishermen in November. So far only some photos from Flickr and some poorly translated news reports are available so far, but one of the photos may allow some identification if they had been photographed previously. The photo with a saddle patch and eyepatch can be seen Tim Zimmermann's blog, which is the clearinghouse for further information: http://timzimmermann.com/2011/12/09/dead-orcas-in-korea/
A commenter on the blog says that these photos come from a 2008 event: http://news.naver.com/main/read.nhn?mode=LSD <http://news.naver.com/main/read.nhn?mode=LSD&mid=sec&sid1=101&oid=001&aid=0 002175832> &mid=sec&sid1=101&oid=001&aid=0002175832 http://news.chosun.com/site/data/html_dir/2008/07/16/2008071600046.html http://news.naver.com/main/read.nhn?mode=LSD <http://news.naver.com/main/read.nhn?mode=LSD&mid=sec&sid1=102&oid=001&aid=0 002176610> &mid=sec&sid1=102&oid=001&aid=0002176610 Howard Garrett Orca Network [email protected] www.orcanetwork.org <http://www.orcanetwork.org/> 1-866-ORCANET Orca Network - Connecting whales and people in the Pacific Northwest Orca Network is dedicated to raising awareness about the whales of the Pacific Northwest, and the importance of providing them healthy and safe habitats.
