Habitat suitable to North Atlantic Right Whales A post-doctoral candidate is sought to undertake a project to develop a bio-energetic model for North Atlantic right whales feeding on various prey density, and identify suitable habitat for this population in the Gulf of St. Lawrence and eastern Scotian Shelf, Canada by combining energetics with data on prey and whale densities.
Applicants should possess (or should soon possess) an internationally-recognised doctoral degree from an accredited institution. The candidate should be self-motivated, and able to work within a team framework. He/she should have an interest in comparative physiology and biomechanics of marine organisms, and a strong background in mathematics, physics, statistics and computer science. We seek a candidate to begin work in the summer 2014 (or earlier) and to continue until 31 March 2016. Salary will be on the order of $48,000 CAD/year. All or a portion (up to a cap) of moving expenses will be covered.
