The Coastal & Marine Research Centre, UCC seeks a suitably qualified Postdoctoral researcher and Research Support Officer/Marine Mammal Observer. Both roles are for a period of 2 years. Postdoctoral Researcher Salary: €33,975 - €38,155 p.a. (New Entrants) The postdoctoral researcher will identify relevant data holders and engage with them to collate metadata on the spatial and temporal coverage of cetacean survey data. They will identify gaps in data coverage and devise a plan to target data gaps by using national naval, research and other vessels of opportunity. The Research Support Officer will conduct ship-based at-sea surveys for marine mammals and other marine megafauna (e.g. turtles, sharks) in Irish waters and will work with scientists, authorities and industry to develop and promote a standard methodology for marine mammal observations and standard reporting procedures.
