The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) is hiring a bioacoustician to
work in its headquarters Office of Environmental Programs in Sterling, VA.

- Work in coordination with an internal interdisciplinary team of
modeler(s), biologist(s) and policy expert(s) to develop and pursue a
long-term BOEM national policy and science strategy for effectively and
efficiently addressing marine sound issues.



- Drive the development of necessary improvements in assessment
methodologies related to marine sound.



- Produce written assessments of known effects of sound from
BOEM-authorized activities on marine life and integrate information into
BOEM environmental analyses and public information (e.g., white papers,
publications, via website). Write and critically review bioacoustics
portions of BOEM documents.



- Identify, develop, and influence national strategies on marine
bioacoustics-related research.



- Represent BOEM as a subject matter expertise on bioacoustics to external
constituents, such as participating in professional/scientific meetings and
education and outreach events.
