Our mission is to improve and protect life for marine mammals, humans, and our shared oceans through science, service, and education. For the first half of this position, the research assistant (RA) will work directly with a research effort that supports the Living Marine Resources program mission to improve understanding of the occurrence, exposure, response, and consequences of marine species near Navy at-sea training and testing activities. Specifically, the RA will help with the physiological/anatomical investigation of fish exposed to underwater detonations. The RA will participate in data collection and analysis efforts in a laboratory setting and may be asked to assist with field work at-sea and facilities maintenance. For the second half of the position, interns will work directly with the Animal Health & Welfare team at the National Marine Mammal Foundation including the animal health records team and the veterinary staff. By the end of this internship, students will have completed an array of experiences to help prepare them for a career in marine science and research.
