Dear Marmamers,

This is a final reminder about our PhD opportunity at the University of
Plymouth surveying cetaceans in the western English Channel, estimating
abundance, distribution and exposure to shipping noise. The project will manage
ongoing data collection aboard the University's sailing vessel 'Take the Helm'
conducting visual and acoustic surveys using a towed hydrophone array in the
English Channel and combine these data with passive acoustic data from a moored
hydrophone to model exposure to vessel noise. The project will be supervised by
Dr Simon Ingram and Dr Clare Embling at the University of Plymouth in
collaboration with Dr Rosalyn Putland at CEFAS (Centre for Environment
Fisheries & Aquaculture Science). The post is a 5 year part time teaching and
part time DTA (Doctoral Teaching Assistant) studentship. The closing date for
applications is 26th January 2023. For more details use the link below. Please
be aware that because this is a part-time teaching post, the studentship is
only open to UK or Irish citizens or those with a current right to work in the
UK.
