Registration is now open for The Whale Museum's 2023 virtual Gear Down Workshop 
for Marine Naturalists



The Whale Museum (TWM) in Friday Harbor, WA, is holding an exciting virtual 
Gear Down Workshop for Marine Naturalists this fall on Friday, October 20. This 
workshop will be held from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm Pacific Time and registrants 
will join sessions through the videoconferencing platform, Zoom. The theme of 
this “Gear Down” Workshop will be Unusual & Changing Sightings Of Species In 
The Salish Sea.


Invited presenters include:

  *   Erin Falcone, North Coast Cetacean Society, on fin, Bryde’s, & sei whales

  *   Candice Emmons, NOAA, on SRKW and NRKW current distribution patterns and 
overlap

  *   David Anderson & Laurie Shuster, Cascadia Research Collective, on 
dolphins in the Salish Sea

  *   Kristin Wilkinson, NOAA, on beluga whales & rare pinnipeds & stranding 
network response

  *   Dr. Adam Summers, University of Washington, on blue fin tuna

  *   Dr. Marianne Nyegaard, Auckland Museum, on mola (sunfish)


      The registration fee is $35 for non-members; $25 for TWM/SSAMN members.
