Dear MARMAM Community, The Society for Marine Mammalogy (link <https://marinemammalscience.org/>) is a non-profit organization founded in 1981. The Society aims to promote the global advancement of marine mammal science and contribute to its relevance and impact in education, conservation and management. Part of the Society's objectives is to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in its membership, leadership, and readership. As such, the Society's Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Committee is currently seeking volunteer ASL Interpreters (or students working towards certification). Interpreters will be expected to join monthly, virtual meetings and facilitate translation of spoken language (English) to American Sign Language and sign language to spoken language. Knowledge of marine mammal sciences is not required for the position(s).
If you or anyone you know is interested in this role, please reach out to us ([email protected])! We kindly ask that in your initial email (using "Volunteer ASL Interpreter" in the subject line), you include a brief statement of interest and an updated resume. Thank you! Sincerely, Shiva Jian-Javdan -- Shiva Jian-Javdan Chair, Diversity and Inclusion Committee Society for Marine Mammalogy [email protected]
