IMMA questionnaire

Wednesday 15th July 2026

Dear MARMAM Community:

The IMMA Secretariat and the University of St Andrews, with the support of
Whale and Dolphin Conservation, are conducting a short survey to understand how
Important Marine Mammal Areas (IMMAs) have been used and their impact on marine
mammal conservation, management, and policy worldwide.

We would like to ask you to please share your perspectives through a short
survey (5–10 minutes), which explores:
which IMMAs or regions you have worked with;
how you have used them; and
any outcomes or impacts resulting from your work.

Your input is very valuable and will directly inform our understanding of the
global impact of IMMAs. Please note that responses will be anonymised and
aggregated.

Participation is voluntary and all responses are confidential. For questions,
please contact us at [email protected]
<mailto:[email protected]> or [email protected]
<mailto:[email protected]>.

Thank you so much for your valued contribution and support of the IMMA Programme

With best wishes,
Gill Braulik and Eafa Godson

on behalf of Erich Hoyt and Giuseppe Notarbartolo di Sciara, Co-Chairs of the
IUCN Marine Mammal Protected Areas Task Force
