Dear MARMAM colleagues,

We are thrilled to share our new publication on the novel application of
occupancy modeling as methodology for humpback whale song change analysis. The
note acknowledges the importance of accounting for discrepancies in signal
detection during data collection, and provides a proof of concept for the use
of occupancy modeling as a framework for distinguishing the effects of sampling
limitation from true song change and for identifying key features affecting
signal presence and detection over time.

Whale Song Changes Over Time Using Occupancy Models. Marine Mammal Science 42,

A GitHub repository is in the works for public access to the code and
instructions for use of this framework in other projects.

We hope this methodology proves useful for others working on quantifying song
change!

Best regards,

Franny Oppenheimer
