The research will address core ecological questions related to understanding how and why gray whales are currently using the Bay and what effects this use of Bay habitats has on the whales themselves. * *Key qualifications for this position include a PhD (or equivalent, near completion) in biology, ecology, chemistry, or a related field, along with relevant experience in areas such as marine mammal or benthic/feeding ecology, toxicology of marine invertebrates or mammals, eDNA or stable isotope analysis, UAV/drone-based data collection, or statistical methods for field biomonitoring data or long-term ecological datasets. The specific research questions and methods will be shaped collaboratively by the principal investigators with the successful candidate based on the candidate's background and interests.
