Hi MARMAM,

We have just two sessions of QGIS Essentials remaining this year, with our
next session beginning in October!

Our course is designed specifically around marine and ocean science
applications, with marine mammal data serving as a key spatial resource
throughout the training. Participants gain hands-on experience working with
species occurrence and distribution data alongside environmental and
oceanographic datasets to build practical GIS skills relevant to marine
mammal research, monitoring, and management.

Topics include importing and managing spatial data, coordinate reference
systems, vector and raster analysis, geoprocessing, working with
environmental datasets, and creating publication-quality maps using QGIS, a
free and open-source GIS platform.

The course is fully online and asynchronous, with 30 days of access and
instructor support, so participants can work through the material on their
own schedule. QGIS Essentials is also certified by IMarEST for Continuing
Professional Development (CPD), making it a great option for marine
professionals looking to build practical GIS skills while contributing to
their ongoing professional development.

If learning QGIS has been on your list for 2026, there are only two more
opportunities to join us this year!
