As a rule, I try to support as many platforms as possible, but do not
try to accommodate broken installations. I have a report of failures
due to absense of Time::Piece, which is supposed to be a core module as
of Perl 5.10.0, but reportedly is absent on Centos6 with perl 5.10.1.
(This is github issue
https://github.com/jeffreykegler/Marpa--R2/issues/143).
For this purpose I do not count major distros as "broken", regardless of
what I may think of their packaging choices. If the choice is between
serving users, and standing up for some technical point re build
correctness, I go with the users.
Anyway, I'm very seriously thinking of adding Time::Piece 1.12
explicitly to the dependencies, core module or not, in order to make
Centos happy.
Comments welcome. I'm particularly interested in hearing from anybody
who knows about the phenomenon of core modules being missing from Perl
distributions.
