I've managed, over the past few months, to combine rapid, major innovation, backward compatibility and stability in Marpa::R2. I always knew this could not go on forever -- I'd reach the point where something had to give.

At this point, I'm prototyping a Marpa::R3 (based on the Kollos project which I've described elsewhere). Major new features will go into R3. Marpa::R2 will now go into "stabler" mode. It will remain fully supported in terms of bug fixes. New features will not be "frozen", but there will definitely be a very severe chill.

Marpa::R2 remains the recommended version for new applications. R2 currently has a vast number of unexplored features. In terms of bugs, R2 has been very stable, and should now become even more so. My highest priority has been bugs that affect existing users -- I have been setting aside whatever development is going on to fix those first. This shift of efforts will not affect the priority that I give Marpa::R2 bugs.
