In my post, I attempted to focus on *elminating* tradeoffs, instead of
exploring them. This was a *big* problem in coming up with an example.
I needed, to make my self clear, present a particular programmer making
a choice. This unfortunately focuses on the choice, and not on the
infrastructure that framed the set of choices, which is my main concern.
But re the choices. There are cases for and against significant
whitespace. The case against it is that it forces a specific layout on
your program, and that it can present issues when cutting-and-pasting,
and when reformatting code for publication, etc. If you're pursing a
totally flexible syntax, of course, you don't want significant whitespace.
