start_sim source code is at
http://marss86.org/~marss86/index.php/Checkpoints_in_MARSS . it is just a
call to ptlcall_switch_to_sim() which you can find in
ptlsim/tools/ptlcalls.h . ptlcall_switch_to_sim does sends -run to ptlsim
you want to have something to send "fast-fwd-user-insns".
is there a reason you don't want to use it with create_checkpoint ?
