Thats already fixed for the next release which is due with in weeks
time.

You can definitely create a link to existing Marts like ensembl.
Using martEditor its possible to view the importable/Exportables
properties. All you need to do is to download MartEditor which comes as
a part of martJ tools from
http://www.biomart.org/MartJ1.html
Then setup a  connection to say ensembl and 'import' the desired dataset
to view its importable/exportable attributes
