Subject: [ensembl-admin] Changes to the ensembldb.ensembl.org hardware
Dear Ensembl/Mart users,
Today we have made changes to the ensembldb.ensembl.org MySQL instance
to improve the quality of the service.
We have replaced the current servers with more powerful hardware
and split the databases over more than one machine.
Now the new hardware is in place there will be a change to the way
Mart databases are served.
All Ensembl mart databases that we serve externally are now served by
martdb.ensembl.org
on port 3316
If you connect to any of these databases you will need to update
your martRegistry to reflect this.
To ease transition the latest 3 Ensembl Marts (40, 41 & 42) will be
retained on the ensembldb.ensembl.org until the 43 release comes on
line at the end of the month.
**********************************************************************
* If you access these databases directly you will need to update *
* and rebuild your registry file. *
* *
* BioMart V0.4 - update martRegistry.xml remove martconfig.packed *
* and restart the ensembl webserver to rebuild martconfig.packed *
* *
* BioMart V0.5 - update your registry file and run bin/configure.pl *
* with the --clean switch *
**********************************************************************
We hope this will minimise the "12" errors people have been seeing
recently
Yours
The BioMart team + the Ensembl webteam
