G'day Chris,
Happy for the list to have a chat about what we'd like the list to look
like/ be for etc.
Most of the more talkative Thaxists have been here a long time, I suppose -
we pretty well know each others' propensities by now - perhaps that's a
problem (although, in as rapidly transforming a world as this, that'd be a
rather sad indication of a retreat to abstractions, I reckon).
Sadder still to think that a bit of affected amiability - I'm actually a
really hard bastard, honest (and don't get me going on that rugby-terrace
yobbo Cochrane, neither) - is something needful of cure, though.
And you write:
>Does it explain why the USA should have kept out of the war against nazi
>Germany, as the main US Trotskyist organisation argued, and as Louis
>Proyect faithfully argues today?
Well, no - the article was written in 1933, Chris! He did write about the
Orwell-speak engaged in by the Yanks and the Poms on the matter of arms
reduction, though - the real agenda being that both wanted a re-armed
Germany as a reliable bulwark (mebbe even aggressor) against the Soviets.
I'll have to leave it to others to answer your question, though.
Cheers,
Rob.
