Perhaps you could let us in on what you are quoting? In the middle of the night I finished reading a superb book, possibly the best I've read on the subject:
Bronner, Stephen Eric. A Rumor about the Jews: Antisemitism, Conspiracy, and the Protocols of Zion. New York: Oxford University Press, 2003. (1st ed., 2000) Bronner is a scholar of critical theory, inter alia. The title comes from an aphorism by Adorno. The book reaches back to antiquity, and analyzes what happens at each historical stage, focusing on the development of anti-semitism as an illiberal reaction to modernity. The Protocols marked a qualitatively new stage in anti-semitism, of which the logical conclusion was the Holocaust. And while the ensuing history is based on qualitatively different conditions from the mounting crisis of the early 20th century, the irrational reaction to the modern world bears within it the constant threat of the resurgence of anti-semitism. ^^^^^ CB: The resurgence of anti-semitism in Europe ? _______________________________________________ Marxism-Thaxis mailing list [email protected] To change your options or unsubscribe go to: http://lists.econ.utah.edu/mailman/listinfo/marxism-thaxis
