A fascinating glimpse into the great Irish revolutionary workers' leader James Connolly, provided in a 1965 interview with Nora, his oldest child and the one probably most associated with trying to continue his politics. Nora was acting paymaster-general for the anti-Treaty IRA for a while during the Civil War and later one of the central founders of Republican Congress, a promising project which she argued (rightly in my view) should convert into a party, a position the CPI and its supporters opposed. She died a socialist-republican and a supporter of the hunger strikers. At the same time, it's a very sad interview: http://theirishrevolution.wordpress.com/2014/06/04/nora-connolly-on-james-connolly-1965/ Phil ________________________________________________ Send list submissions to: [email protected] Set your options at: http://lists.csbs.utah.edu/options/marxism/archive%40mail-archive.com
