Where are we going after the agreement? by Antonis Davanellos March 10, 2015 <http://socialistworker.org/2015/03/10/where-is-syriza-going-next> Antonis Davanellos, a member of the Internationalist Workers Left (DEA), one of the co-founding organizations of SYRIZA 10 years ago, and now a Central Committee member and leading figure in the Left Platform, wrote this article for DEA's newspaper Workers' Left to make the case for what comes next for the struggle against austerity and the battle within SYRIZA after the critical Central Committee meeting. Statement: Choosing a different path DEA March 10, 2015 <http://socialistworker.org/2015/03/10/choosing-a-different-path> Last month, the new Greek government led by the Coalition of the Radical Left, or SYRIZA, agreed to an extension of the financial bailout organized by the so-called Troika (the European Union (EU), European Central Bank (ECB) and International Monetary Fund (IMF) on the condition that previous Greek governments accept the drastic austerity measures contained in a series of Memorandums. Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras and Finance Minister Yanis Varoufakis retreated wholesale on SYRIZA's commitment to reverse austerity and to demand cancellation of the greater part of Greece's massive foreign debt. But the problems for the new government are only beginning. In an editorial in the March 4 issue of its newspaper Workers Left, the socialist group Internationalist Workers Left--a cofounder of SYRIZA 10 years ago and now a leading voice in the party's Left Platform that is critical of the Eurogroup agreement--calls on members of SYRIZA to mobilize around an alternative of resistance to the lenders and struggle against austerity. _________________________________________________________ Full posting guidelines at: http://www.marxmail.org/sub.htm Set your options at: http://lists.csbs.utah.edu/options/marxism/archive%40mail-archive.com
