I learned from another article that in 1865 a group of Welch people moved to 
Argentina, hoping to preserve their language.  Reading about this movement, it 
is not hard to understand why Ukrainians would wish to preserve their language 
and why Russians speakers in the Ukraine are so attached to their language.

ardent Welsh nationalist from Bala, who believed that the best way to preserve 
his people’s culture was to isolate it, establishing a community as far away as 
possible from the baleful influence of Victorian England.
