Clearly I should have heard the news already: that some huge employers had already taken the step of denying domestic partner health and other benefits in states where same-sex marriage is legalized - a step that the Times today predicts could easily spread (see link below and links within it). Great quote from the article: “'No American should be denied benefits by their employer or otherwise penalized for choosing to opt out of a religiously and societally mandated but historically problematic institution,' said Mr. Parks." Couldn't agree more. So clearly there needs to be a fight now against stripping away domestic partner benefits -- AND a stepped-up fight to divorce (pun intended) benefits from employment, i.e. to win single-payer Medicare for All. (This all, by the way, overlaps with the discussion about whether the SCOTUS ruling was a victory making broader struggles possible, or a diversion.
