Once upon a time, young people were inspired by the cause of socialism and the hope of a better, more just world. This was the case after the Russian, Chinese, and Cuban Revolutions and the Vietnamese struggle against the US death machine. This article describes how young Muslims are increasingly looking not to our side, but to ISIS-type jihadists in the fight against oppression. If this is accurate, it could be the great political failure/tragedy of our time. clip - For others who have struggled to find meaning in their lives, ISIS is a thrilling cause and call to action that promises glory and esteem in the eyes of friends, and through friends, eternal respect and remembrance in the wider world that many of them will never live to enjoy.
