Ms. Alexander is the author of one of the most important books on the history and current status of Black America - The New Jim Crow - referring to the devastating effect of mass and disproportionate incarceration on Black America. She takes apart the notion that Bill Clinton was in any way a friend of Blacks, pointing out that he represented the "New Democrats" who were reaching out to white former Democrats who had left the party, feeling that it was too pro-Black. Clinton;s policies were meant to show this demographic that they should come home to a party that was just as racist as the Republicans, only employing "kinder and gentler" rhetoric. She really nails the bastard!
