I also have been in the Left since 1967, by 1968 I was the black leader of an otherwise white SDS chapter [WU was not yet well integrated - only one other black in my freshman engineering class] and in the white Left pretty much since then, and it has never been about program. It has been about inviting blacks in for window dressing and inviting them to leave when they started raising embarrassing questions. Well, my lync just alerted. Back to work in the Engineroom.
