His position has changed. Before he was opposed to right of return, saying
that by including it the BDS Movement was calling for Israel's destruction.
Now he is saying RoR is fine but they should still clarify that Israel has
the right to exist as a regime.

I think it is odd. He seems to be conflating the advocacy of civil society
groups with the stances that governments should take. BDS doesn't take a
stance on Israel because it is not a government. A state's existence is a
political question. UN member states and legal bodies might call for
defending Israeli sovereignty but it's odd that random activists are
expected to do so, particularly if they are calling on others to boycott
Israel. Ask yourself if people who advocate for sanctions against Iran
recognize the regime's "right to exist" as a regime. It would be a very odd
position to articulate while you are trying to cut ties.

I agree with his general pessimism, though. The horrors in Gaza and the
paltry response in the West make me wonder how much can actually be done on
this end.
