Yesterday's People's Vote protest was very big. Probably not half as big as the organisers claim. But I would guess it was larger than the anti-Trump demo a few months ago. If it was just astroturfing, there would not have been hundreds of thousands of people in the streets. The size of the protest showed that sentiment against Brexit has hardened in one part of the population. For most of those people, the reasons for being anti-Brexit matter more than the reasons for being pro-EU. And, for the most part, those are decent reasons. They are, if not particularly left-wing, against the hard-Right. They are, if not necessarily anti-racist (and you really can't say that about everyone present yesterday, far less about the institution in whose defence they marched), against the most hardline racists.
