Just posted to FB by David McDonald:
My Parisian correspondent on the Finkelkraut controversy:
The daily newspaper Libération published an article where the owner of
the Bagelstein store (where a 'Juden' graffiti appeared) said:
"This has nothing to do with the march [of the gilets jaunes]. That
march was never any close to our neighborhood, and in any case this
graffiti was done before the march started. Nevertheless, the gilets
jaunes are accused by government officials, Zionist outfits (that add
for good measure the BDS and its activists)
I'm pretty sure Finkelkraut presence at this precise location and time
was not a coincidence. That individual is accustomed to that kind of
provocation. In 2016, at the time of the anti Labor Code big
mobilizations, he showed up Place de la République where Nuit Debout was
holding assemblies. He was kicked out by the protesters among
insults, and people yelling: "Saloperie!", "Fasciste!", "Facho!",
"Casse-toi!", "Bouge!"
Who is Finkelkraut:
In 2005 he explained that France's soccer team that was
"Black-Black-Black" [in English] was "the laughing stock of all Europe"
After some people of African descent asked that slavery be recognized as
a crime against humanity:
"What did we do to them [the Africans]? Just good things..."
Colonization has the merit of "bringing civilization to savages" And we
are wrong to no longer teach this in school, he laments.
In an interview on Radio Shalom about the 'creolization':
I am afraid that the creolization helps maintain hatred for
colonial France, hatred for Israel, a Jewish State if you will,
that is, a non-creolized State, a non-mixed State.
In the November 18 2005 issue of Haaretz, and Israeli newspaper, (of
which large excerpts were published in the French paper Le Monde)
Finkelkraut goes as far as wondering why the French schools that welcome
'illegal' immigrant children don't report them to the police!
[a sinister reminder of the Vichy regime period when Jewish kids would
be reported to the authorities]
Finkelkraut has a weekly radio show on a major radio station. He is
often invited to all sorts of conferences, the media... And to top it he
was, a few years ago, elected at the prestigious French Academy.
