Best seen on the NY Times for the graphics, the article is a reminder that the environmental crisis is not reducible to greenhouse gases. You can replace oil and gas with wind and solar but what do you replace timber with when it comes to furniture? Or houses? Or innumerable household items? The article also illustrates the phony solidarity of BRICS. China has about as much interest in the sustainability of Russian forests as it does of copper mining in Zambia. That's how capitalism operates, doesn't it?
