Louis, The NY Times report is distorted and disgusting. Here is why: 1. In the recent elections to the Delhi State Assembly, AAP (Common Man's Party) had again won a resounding victory crushing The ruling BJP (AAP got 62 out of 70 seats and BJP could manage only 8). After the polling, BJP men were caught trying to steal EVMs, the Electronic Voting Machines from safe rooms and replace them by doctored machines. Such an act is possible only if the Election Officials connive with the ruling BJP. They were checked by alert residents and videos of stolen EVMs being loaded in to cars went viral on the social media. Out of 8 seats that BJP won, some of them might be due to stolen EVMs. 2. This is totally unpalatable for the arrogant BJP leadership and especially Modi and his cohort, the Internal Minister, Amit Shah. 3. Protests are going on all over the country against the draconian Citizenship Amendment Law, passed by the BJP majority Parliament. Hundreds of sit-in camps, in the lines of Occupy Movement had come up in hundreds of towns and cities. Muslim, Hindu, Sikh, Christian women were staging sit-ins since two months. There were many attacks by BJP-RSS goons and some gun firing also. But the protests spread. One BJP Cabinet Minister claimed that these women's sit-in protest camps are Terrorist Dens, stocking weapons. Another ruling party leader went even further and claimed brazenly that these protesters will enter Hindu homes and rape women. This had raised a barrage of jokes on social media, asking how women can rape women? One Brahmin Hindu priest angrily retorted, "Do these fellows think we are fools? Does he mean to say that women with babies in their arms are busy making bombs in the protest camps?" 4. The ruling party leadership was determined to close the camps, but using force on women and children would be a political blunder. So they applied their time tested fascist technique by assembling well trained goons with weapons and start assaulting people. It is reported they were blocking roads and asking passers by about their religion. If a Hindu, he is let go, but if they encounter a Muslim, he will be beaten to death and his vehicle torched. Many roads in North-East part of Delhi are littered with burnt cats and motor bikes. Many Mosques and Muslim shops and houses were torched. The Government tried to censor the news, but social media had exposed the perpetrators of violence. When attacked, the Muslim residents had to defend themselves and it was pictured as if it is clash between Muslims and Hindus. Local residents, either Hindu, Muslim or Sikh confirm that the attackers were not locals, but professional goons, imported for instigating violence. 5. More than 30 people were killed according to Delhi Police statement and hundreds sustained severe injuries. One Kapil Misra, a BJP leader in Delhi, who lost the recent election, was seen standing with a senior Delhi Police officer and giving a public statement egging his men to attack Muslims.This shows that Delhi Police is following orders from Amit Shah, the Minister of Interior and their boss to fully cooperate with the RSS attackers. Hundres of amateur videos have gone viral showing Delhi Police actively assisting the goons and many times just standing and watching as the destruction went on unabated. 6. By the fifth day of the instigated violence, Amit Shah and his goons seem to lost the game. The residents of Delhi have begun helping the victims. Sikh Gurdwaras, have opened their gates and gave shelter to Muslim victims and fed them. So was the case with many Churches. Many Hindus were seen protecting their Muslim brothers from attacks by the goons. Angry Hindus were holding rallies denouncing the attacks and declaring solidarity with Muslims. Many locals, when interviewed, said, "we have no animosity among us. Hindus, Muslims and Sikhs have to live together in peace. It is only professional goons from outside who are creating violence." Peace rallies are being held in Delhi denouncing the violence and the Delhi High Court had intervened and warned the Central Government and Delhi Police to ensure safety of the citizens. "When we lose fear, they lose power" - a slogan in the protest rallies. Obviously, the Fuhrer Modi and Goring Amit Shah stand naked and exposed.
