Just on the surface . . . . a bit deeper than what candidates might be saying at this point . . . . Hunter was running as a Democrat in local elections just a few years back and came up through a state "paper party" that has little more than a nominal existence and has mostly functioned under the leadership of people who, at least, selectively support Democrats for office. Hawkins has been an open socialist, and an active Green, campaigning and promoting the interests of the party as long as I've known him, and has been the leader and spokesman chosen by a real organization with actual members. I make this a lot longer, but this is sufficient, I think . . . .
