This is a little old, but none-the-less the way that Rosling interprets the data as a validation of capitalism is irksome I think. Louis has recently reignited some of the old debates on development, but Rosling is out there recasting the whole debate as needing culture to do the seemingly impossible... yet he removes history and socio- political analysis from the whole presentation. I might add, as a an old demographer, that the presentation of data is impressive—it brings tables of data and graphs to life that used to take years of study to understand and explain, Sadly, like the those that think MRIs will explain thought in the human brain, I fear that the interpretations do so much damage to the data... new insights but old prejudices...
