Jonathan Gruber is a pro-market hack, who played a central role in setting up the Massachusetts model which is being emulated now in bills before Congress. He gave a talk at a healthcare policy conference I attended, and when I raised single payer, he replied with the predictable nonsense that it wasn't politically possible -- then went on to accuse Steffie Woolhandler, one of the most prominent pro-single payer authors, of lying in her articles. I'm still boiling at this murderous, self-satisfied piece of shit who's making a career denying healthcare to the uninsured.
