I'm in the midst of reading this paper now, and no doubt about, Bina is certainly full of himself to the point of boredom. You want to scream at him "Just shut up and get to the point." I don't know if that translates automatically into being full of s--t, but perhaps. Bina wrote a book, in 1985 called the Economics of the Oil Crisis in which he argues that the price increase of oil are the result of ground rent based on the US becoming the most expensive, least productive, but still essential producer. That is certainly a better explanation than the shortage theory, peak oil, etc. but I don't buy it, since the issue with oil was, has been, and remains its overproduction, its overproduction as capital.
