This is Joaquin's version of Healyite Orthodoxy, albeit based on his highly proto-historical Marx-Orthodoxy as if it's all 1851 all over again. Thus, anyone who disagrees with him is of course being "Revisionist"...that is, non-Marxist. His basis of this of course is the reality he describes about the lack of any 'movement' of a working class even minimaly in motion. So Joaquin's Orthodoxy mandates that we all pack it in, go home, and certainly not organize as communists. After all, that's what Marx and Engels advocated in the 1850s. [I would urge some of you to read Paul Le Blancs writings on this question, which dovetail descritpively with Joaquin's but comes to opposite, and realistic, conclusions.] As it happens I'm glad most communists actually ignored their view then. In France, England and even the United States where various communist organizations continued to...organize. I am no "Marcyite", at all. But I'm glad THEY were around last year during the assault on Gaza to help organize some truly amazing rallies and protests at the Zionist consulate in San Francisco. Or in 1981 during the first big Central American anti-war demonstration. Or any numerous events and organized rallies that simply would not of occurred without their 'existence'. The recent mass opposition to the cuts in education in California would of been far more diffuse, smaller and less organized without the myriad participation of various small Trotskyist groups that have provided, in large part, the needed glue to make this movement autonomous from *any* group, dynamic and independent. The only people who think the Left ought to dissolve is....the Right. And Joaquin. Obviously, radicalizing students and workers are not listening to him as communist groups seem to keep growing..and being effective. Thank the gods.
