Well, I am happy to acknowledge that Dialectical Materialism has no practical effects -- other than negative ones, and it is these which I trace in detail in the Essays I linked to above. *My challenge was to those who believe it has*; so: if Dialectical materialism has any practical effects, *and* truth is tested in practice, then 150 years of practice have delivered a very clear result: it stands refuted. On the other hand, if it has no practical effects (other than negative), then you won't miss it if we ditch it, will you? But, if I am right, and it exercises only a negative influence on our movement, then we* ought to ditch it*. I agree with this, too: "One need not read anything by Marx or Engels to carry out an insurrection." But I think it unwise...
