Thanks for this Paddy.  In some ways this was the best possible result.  The
Tories do not really have a governing majority to use as a base to launch
their offensive on the working class. Labour is surely discredited and I
cannot say I am sorry to see them go. It may also be possible that the
capacity fo the Union Bureaucracy to filter and control working class
militancy has been weakened as well.

Overall of course the decisive stuggle would appear to be, for the moment at
least, in Greece. It is strange to watch the drama, with nothing less that
the fate of humanity at stake, being played out in the streets of Athens.

That is not meant as a put down of the Greeks in any way. What I mean is
that there is an air of almost disbelief as history seems finally to be
making a move. As things were they can no longer be.  That is recognized by
everyone.  The working class are at last coming to the realization that they
are in a place where it is not safe for them to continue not to protest and
not to fight.

They must enter a deadly struggle now with the ruling class or go into the
most wretched poverty for an entire generation.
