I'm no fan of comrade Waistline's politics, and he's no fan of mine, but I 
think his post on the limitations of the Black Activist Journal, based on 
his analysis of the material history of black labor is on the mark, spot on 
the mark.

The remarks about DuBois and James and Claudia Jones [how do you 
characterize Claudia Jones without identifying her as a Marxist?  Beats the 
hell out of me, that's for sure] , are not sectarian criticism of the 
journal, but merely point to an object lesson in what is lost when the 
struggle for black emancipation is abstracted from its history as black 
labor.
