Re the deep discussion of Chomsky's politics, here's tidbit on the
lighter side from a friend in New York. DT

The local miniature golf course in Accord, NY in the Catskills has
a l3 foot garden gnome standing in front of it on highway 209 to attract
attention. Their promo literature notes that it is the largest garden
gnome in existence and is in The Guiness Book of World Records. The
thing is called "The Gnome Chomsky" and referred to by locals as just
"Chomsky." So while Noam can't get a review in the New York Times, he
has achieved a measure of recognition up here, however kitschey.
